Abstract

Melissa E. Schindler is a PhD student at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her work focuses on literatures of the Lusophone African Diaspora. Her dissertation, entitled Shadow and Synesthesia, examines the links between Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Asian literatures.

Adelaine LaGuardia holds an MA in English and PhD in Comparative Literature from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil. She is an associate professor of English at Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei, Brazil. Her main research interests and publications are in Gender and Women's Studies.
